Emily's Dance Festival

Our school does a dance festival every year so since Emily's in Kindergarten this is her first year of many cute dances. This year's theme was musicals so the Kindergarten did Step in Time from "Mary Poppins". Emily did a fantastic job (as you can see from the video--which will hopefully successfully upload sometime soon!!) and loved dancing. Then for the finale, our principal is leaving this year, so the whole school danced to the song "You Say Goodbye and I Say Hello" by the Beatles. It was super cute! I'm excited to see what her dance next year will be!
I think it was my favorite dance festival too because I just got to show up and watch it as a mom, since I was home with Tyler. It was so fun to see Emily dance and all my students dance for the first time instead of having stressed about it for the past few weeks before. It was really fun!

Ashley's preschool program

We put Ashley in preschool this year and she just loved it. She had so much fun and learned a lot too. We put her in preschool to help with her socialization (we wanted to make sure that she wouldn't fight with kids when she went to school. She is a fiery one!) and she has really matured and mellowed this past year! For their final day, their teacher Miss Cheryl and all the students put on a little program where they sang songs and chants that they learned throughout the year. It was cute and actually good weather!! I can't believe my little girl is going to be 4 already. Where did the time go?

Emily's Dance Recital

Emily had her dance recital last Wednesday. She has really enjoyed dance this year and made a lot of progress. She performed to a song named "Chihuahua" and then her dance place put on the production of Peter Pan and she was a mermaid. She looked great and knew the routines really well. I'm so proud of you Emily!!
Waiting to perform her Chihuahua dance
Doesn't she look cute! :-)

The stage lights really messed with the video quality, but you can still get the drift of the song.
It wouldn't let me upload the mermaid dance, but it was cute too.

Kindergarten Graduation

My little baby girl, Emily, graduated from Kindergarten on Friday!! I can't believe it! She LOVED kindergarten so much. Her teacher, Mrs. Herman, walks on water. She learned SO much this year and made so much progress. She seems to be reading so well and seems to have a gift for math. She also made a lot of friends, which every mom worries about. I hope she will always like school and continue to get good teachers and progress!! I love you, Em, and am very proud of how hard you worked this year in Kindergarten!

He's Here!!

Our little baby boy is here!! Tyler Jesse Day was born Monday, May 16th, 2011 at 2:33 p.m. He was 19 inches long and weighed 8 lbs 15 oz, one mere ounce away from 9 lbs! Our biggest baby by far! He is doing so well and is a cutie pie! I feel very blessed to have him and my two girls in my life. I am feeling good too, besides the normal soreness. I love this little guy already and am excited to see what the future holds with a boy and three kids.

If we let our daughters name our baby

If we let our daughters name our baby, we would definitely have an interesting name. Ashley's favorite name:
Megamind!!! :-) I can just imagine it now: "Megamind Day come here!" :-)

Emily's favorite name at least comes from a book, but it's not much better. She wants it to be Buzz from the boy in the Fly Guy books.
Kenny then suggested Woody (thinking of the other sidekick to Buzz) :-), but they didn't like that.
Last week, they thought of a wonderful new name: Kenny!! They thought that was so great, but that too did not win.
We don't know what our little boy's name is going to be yet, but I'm pretty sure that Megamind, Buzz, and Woody are safe from our list! :-)

Egg Hunts Galore

We like Easter egg hunts. This year was no exception. We went to the Lindon egg hunt and then over to ours in PG. Ashley once again cleaned up!! She is still in the 0-3 year old group so when surrounded by one year olds, had quite the easy time getting eggs. Emily did good too, but didn't get nearly the same amount as Ashley. The best part of the day was that in un-Ashley like behavior, Ashley shared MANY of her eggs with Emily of her own accord. It was a wonderful parent moment. There's hope for Ashley yet! :)
The next day was Easter. They got some cute candy and things in their Easter basket, their favorite being the movie, Tangled. But this year we tried to focus more on why we celebrate Easter and watched and talked about the Easter story. I think Emily finally grasped it very well. She's been praying about it every night since, thanking Jesus for dying for us and being resurrected so we can be too. Another great parent moment!
The night we went to Grandpa and Grandma's and had dinner and yet another egg hunt. Needless to say after all three hunts and their own Easter basket, they have plenty of candy!!! Happy Easter everyone. Another holiday down and now only two more weeks until our little baby is born!! Life changer, here we come!

After the PG hunt; if you look carefully at the above two pictures you can see how much less full Ash's basket is now than in the first one. This was after she had shared!
Sorting their candy; Emily's favorite thing to do!!
Last year Em got a chocolate bunny for Easter, but our dog Zero ate it (which was a disaster in and of itself later!). This year she was SO excited to have her own bunny that she could eat ALL herself!
