Friends

I had the BEST group of friends in high school!! I was so blessed! After 17 years of being out of high school, we still get together. (Definitely not as often as we all would hope, but at least we still do!) They helped make me who I am today. This Monday we got together at Brick Oven and laughed, talked, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I sure hope my girls get friends like these when they are growing up! Here's to you, VL club! :-)

Bingham Canyon Mine and the "Up" House

Kennecott was giving free tours of their copper mine so we went. It is a cool thing to go see at least once. On the way home we stopped by and saw the "Up" house. A builder built a replica of the house in the movie Up. It's going to be in the Parade of Homes, but tons of people already are going by to see it. It's really cute! The girls loved seeing it and so did we. It was a fun Saturday.

Tyler at 2 months

My little guy is already two months old! He is so precious; I love him so much!! He's holding his head up better and is a major smiler! He's even been sleeping through the night the past week. He's definitely a keeper! :-)

Coach Pitch

Emily was too old to do T-ball again this year so we put her in coach pitch. We were very nervous!! Could she actually hit a ball thrown to her? The answer: yes and no! :) Some times up to bat were great and she hit it right away and other times the coach had to be VERY patient. Overall she did fine, but still liked the treats at the end of the game the best. At least she had a good attitude about the season and going to games!

Posing! She did much better in the field this year. When she would actually get the ball though she'd be so proud of herself she'd look over at us and wave the ball while her coach was yelling, "Emily, throw the ball!" Oh well, at least she was proud of herself. :-)

4th of July

The 4th of July is Kenny's favorite holiday so we always go to the parade and fireworks. This year I didn't feel comfortable dragging Tyler out in the hot sun for 4+ hours so I stayed home with him and Kenny took the girls. As it turned out the morning was very overcast so it would have been fine, but I enjoyed relaxing alone with my little guy.

Anyway, we always leave att he crack of dawn to see the balloons and find a spot for the parade. We get our traditional McDonald's breakfast and head to the parade. This year because it was overcast, they didn't launch the balloons which was a big disappointment for Kenny, but the parade was still on. Here are some highlights:

The F-16 flyovers are Kenny's favorite part of the parade and everyone loves the big animal balloons--scooby doo was a favorite this year. After the parade Kenny took the girls to Seven Peaks and had a blast. That night we went to our sister-in-law's house for a BBQ then on to PG for their fireworks. It was a fun day for everyone.

A Bad Skin Week

Tyler has REALLY bad baby acne. We think that one of them got infected. Two weeks ago, he started getting lots of little sores with honey colored scabs, especially on his right ear. It looked so bad, but we just assumed it was the baby acne. Each day it got worse and worse spreading across most all his right cheek until a week ago when he woke up his face by his right ear was swollen and oozing. It looked so horrible that I couldn't let it go any longer. I called the doctor and made them work me in immediately. As soon as the doctor saw him he said, "That's impetigo." Impetigo is a staff infection of the skin. Luckily it's easily treatable. Tyler got put on oral meds and face cream and luckily a week later he's looking wonderful.

I had a mole that had turned black so I finally made an appointment to get it removed. It seemed to go well until the next day when around the bandaid my skin started turning red and feeling hard and lumpy. I have VERY sensitive skin so I didn't think too much about it, but the red circle continued to grow, itched super bad, blisters appeared all over and hurt like crazy whenever I stood up. So the next day I couldn't take it any longer and I returned to my dermatologist to show him. Apparently he had put polysporin on the wound site. I am allergic to neosporin and I guess polysporin too. This was a severe allergic reaction. He gave me some cream and luckily once again it stopped hurting within a day or two. The blisters have gone away but it still looks horrible and red. My skin is so sensitive and dumb that hopefully it will be healed before I go back to school in a month but I wouldn't be surprised if it was still around!

It was definitely a bad week for skin in the Day family!

Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of his skin at its worst, but you can see the oozing and sores on his face. This was about two days after we started treating him.

He looks so much better now! I love my little guy!

Flag Cake

I've always wanted to make the 4th of July flag cake. This year I finally did. It turned out cute. We didn't have blueberries so we improvised, but my girls didn't care. They thought it was neat. Emily even wanted to say the pledge to the cake so we let her.--That's the video below. The best part about making the flag cake...we got to eat it!!

A Blast from the Past

I think only my mom, dad, and myself might understand this post, but it was awesome to me. When I was a little girl, I had a stuffed up nose one time and I thought if I put a band-aid on it, it'd feel better. Today, Emily did the same thing. She had a little scrape on her nose and wanted to cover it up so she also put a band-aid on her nose. She came down and looked just like me so I had to capture that memory. I sure love my Em!

Boy, does she love her brother!!

Ashley loves, Loves, LOVES her baby brother!! Loves him so much in fact that she won't leave him alone!! All day long whenever she sees him her exact words every time are, "I'm going to give him a hug." It doesn't matter if he's eating, sleeping, crying, in his crib, in his car seat, or in his swing. She manages to crawl on him and give him a hug. It's really cute and annoying at the same time (especially if he's sleeping and after the hug he's not!). I'm so glad she loves her brother. Maybe I should just cherish this because in a year or so she'll probably never want him around. Who knows?

Happy Birthday, Ashley!!

This is a couple weeks behind, but my little Ashley isn't so little anymore! She turned four on June 20th. We had a coach pitch game for Emily that night and Kenny worked until about 10:00, his usual lately. So her birthday was VERY low key. Em and I sang happy birthday and she blew out her candles and opened up a couple presents. Then we just hung out together. I love my little Ashley. She can be a handful many times a day, but I am so smitten with her. I love her independence, her fiery spirit, her love for her baby brother, and so many other things. I can't imagine our family without her!! I love you so much Ash! Happy Birthday!

One night after feeding Tyler, his bib turned around and went on his back. It made it look like a cape so we dubbed him "SuperTyler". He's so cute!!

Father's Day

This year for Father's Day I splurged and got Kenny an ice cream cake. I thought he would love it. Gotta say, it was very disappointing!! It didn't taste that wonderful and I would have been better suited (and spent a lot less) if I had just made him a cake and served up the ice cream that's already in our freezer. Oh well, live and learn.
Other than the cake, it was a good day for Kenny. Emily got him a hammer that she has been convinced for many months that he needs and Ash got him some screw drivers. We sang and enjoyed our time together and Kenny even got to take a Father's Day nap.

A precious moment

I'm in Love!!

I have a confession to make; I'm in love with another guy! Sure, he's not very tall, he sleeps a lot, he cries when he's hungry and he's not even potty trained! But his smile just melts my heart! Have you figured it out yet? It's my little guy, Tyler. (Sorry if I scared some of you with my first sentence. I couldn't resist! ;-) )

I am so in love with Tyler. He is the cutest thing and I'm so grateful that he finally made it to our family. Sure he has his ornery moments during the evening and he LOVES to be held--while standing up, which can get very tiring, but the feeling of love and satisfaction that I get from him is so overwhelming. I can't believe he's 7 weeks old already and the size of at least a three month old. Where does the time go?? I don't know, but what I do know is that I'm going to savor and take advantage of every moment I can with my little cutie pie. Speaking of which, I hear him stirring from sleep. I'm off to feed and snuggle with my new love of my life. I'm pretty sure that Kenny won't be jealous though! :-)

Stawberry Days

Pleasant Grove does Strawberry Days every year for its summer celebration. There's always a carnival, parade, and of course Strawberries and Cream. This year we took the girls and Tyler to the carnival and Kenny took the girls to the parade where they got to see the princess floats (royalty) and a big Pepsi can was a favorite (especially cuz Daddy loves Pepsi so much!). They also had strawberries and cream for the first time. Yummy! (I don't have any pictures of the parade though because I didn't go) I love living in Pleasant Grove!

Riding the motorcycles--always a favorite! We happened to go the first night it was open and they had a special going on--all rides were only 1 ticket! That made for lots of rides for pretty cheap!
