Ballroom Dance 2015--4th grade

Our school has a ballroom dance team and starting in 4th grade you can be on it. Emily chose to do ballroom and really enjoyed it. She learned so much in her first year, and made so much progress. She chose to do it again in 5th grade too. These are some pictures from her performance. Her partner's name was Cache, and she really enjoyed him too! ;-)

Various events in the Day household March-April 2015

One day at school, Kenny wasn't answering a text I sent him and I began to get a little worried. I asked if everything was alright and he sent me this picture:
I could tell he was in a hospital bed. I called and he told me he had been hit behind him while stopped at a light. The woman "claimed" she fell asleep at the wheel, but we are confident she was texting and driving. Kenny wasn't wearing his seat belt so the impact thrust him forward and back and he got a severe concussion. It took him a long time to recover from it and sadly a year later, the insurance companies are still squabbling about payments!
His van was considered totalled, so we had to buy a new one. It was NOT cool! Please be careful driving, people! And DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE!!
The kids always enjoy seeing the bear and
eating ice cream at the Jazz games
as for actually watching the game, not so much! ;-) But they usually have a good time anyway.

My mom retired and my brother, Mike, threw her a retirement party. It was neat to hear about her work life and how excited she was to start her next phase..retirement. I'm really proud of my mom, but I really missed my dad that night.

We like playing family games together a lot--when we get along and don't throw fits ;-)--and one of our favorites is called Settlers of Catan

This picture is a cautionary tale to make sure you know what you are ordering online. I ordered this book off the internet for pretty cheap and when it arrived, I saw why it was so cheap. LOL!
 Love my kiddos so much!
 And they love selfies!!
Emily participated in a drama club at school and loved it. Their performance was a play about the Boston Tea Party. She did fantastic and really loved it!

The drama performance was also the same night as our art and music extravaganza. Emily did a great art project as always. I don't know why Ashley didn't come. Her art was really pretty too. It was a replica of Starry Night.

I was honored with the "Golden Apple" award or as it's now known The Award of Excellence. I was very humbled to have received this award twice in the 18 years that I had taught. I sure love teaching!!
This picture still gives me the heeby jeebies.  One of our neighbor girls caught a snake in our backyard and thought it would be cool--What?!--to bring it inside our house and put it in an empty fish tank! And then to make things worse, we kept it there for a couple weeks. It then escaped, tried to go upstairs, we put it back in its cage, but the next day it escaped again and tried to go to our real fish tank and eat our fish! Well that was the end of that. The kids had gotten sort of attached to it by now and had named it Tiger, so we were humane and took it up to our canyon and let it go free. Good riddance! I then banned snakes from our house for all time!!!!

Girls Night out and Dr. Seuss Day

Emily, Ashley, and I had a wonderful girls night out going to the play Pinkalicious at the Scera Theater. It was so cute. We LOVE these books at our house so it was fun to see it in person. :-)
The next day at school was Dr. Seuss Day and the girls and I dressed up as a Dr. Seuss character. It's always a fun day.

My teammate, Mary, made Truffula tree shirts for us
Our other teammate was the Lorax, who speaks for the trees
Emily was a Sneetch (see the star on her belly) and Ash made herself a Dr. Seuss hat
