Robertson Family Reunion

June 10-12 was our every three year Robertson Family Reunion. As it turned out, I was in charge of the reunion. Quite an adventure having a three week old added to the mix, but it turned out great. We went to Capital Reef and stayed in some cabins right near there. It was a wonderful site with a play area for the kids, a nice green space, and a pool. We had a great time getting reacquainted with family we don't see very often as well as seeing my own family. We did a photo scavenger hunt, went swimming, had a carnival (with the ever popular fish pond), drove through and did a short hike in Capital Reef (yes, with the baby. I was worried the whole time, but he survived, didn't get sunburned, and everything turned out okay!), and played the Robertson requirement card game Pinochle. It was a fun weekend and it's a relief to have my being in charge duty done.
Emily was very excited to get to sleep in the bunk bed
Ashley just loves her cousin, Hunter, (seen pushing her). She was not separated from him the WHOLE weekend!
We did a fun Photo Scavenger Hunt and had to have a picture of our whole group, so here we are.
This was one of the topics we needed for our Scavenger Hunt. It was "Human Statue"
As usual the girls LOVED swimming.
Daddy loves it too!
It was even windy enough one morning to fly a kite
My cousin did a craft for the little kids, a tambourine. Emily loved it so much she had to make 4!!

Fun Run

Our school does a fun run and field day every year during the last week of school. This was Emily's first year doing the fun run and I didn't know how she compared to all the other girls so we just told her to try her best. Well, I guess she's pretty fast and races the fastest boy all the time during recess (we didn't know this until later). So the race starts and she's in 2nd place the whole way until the very end when she pooped out and stopped. She still ended up 6th place which was awesome! After the race she found out that a medal was involved and was a little disappointed that she stopped, but the great thing is she tried hard and there's always next year! :-) I don't care if she ever wins or gets a medal, I just want her to try her best and have a good attitude.

Smilin' for the camera getting ready for the race to start
Starting the race; her great teacher, Mrs. Herman, ran with them too
Still in 2nd place, right before she pooped out :-)

The Thinker

Tyler fell asleep like this the other night. I thought it was so cute Kenny had to take a picture of it. I sure love my little guy! I can't believe he's a month old already.

End of the School Year

I make a post like this about once a year. My school year ended. It was a fabulous one this year. Even though I had to do a 5/6 combined class, it was one of my favorite years ever. My students were so wonderful and we had a blast together. It was not without its share of challenges, but it was such a fulfilling year.
I have now taught for 14 years. Hopefully the next 14 will be as great as the first 14 were!!

My beautiful students!!
Their true personality :-) (Not really, only at times--p.s. this was taken on my last day with them before I had Tyler)

Emily's Dance Festival

Our school does a dance festival every year so since Emily's in Kindergarten this is her first year of many cute dances. This year's theme was musicals so the Kindergarten did Step in Time from "Mary Poppins". Emily did a fantastic job (as you can see from the video--which will hopefully successfully upload sometime soon!!) and loved dancing. Then for the finale, our principal is leaving this year, so the whole school danced to the song "You Say Goodbye and I Say Hello" by the Beatles. It was super cute! I'm excited to see what her dance next year will be!
I think it was my favorite dance festival too because I just got to show up and watch it as a mom, since I was home with Tyler. It was so fun to see Emily dance and all my students dance for the first time instead of having stressed about it for the past few weeks before. It was really fun!

Ashley's preschool program

We put Ashley in preschool this year and she just loved it. She had so much fun and learned a lot too. We put her in preschool to help with her socialization (we wanted to make sure that she wouldn't fight with kids when she went to school. She is a fiery one!) and she has really matured and mellowed this past year! For their final day, their teacher Miss Cheryl and all the students put on a little program where they sang songs and chants that they learned throughout the year. It was cute and actually good weather!! I can't believe my little girl is going to be 4 already. Where did the time go?

Singing and clapping to the chant "Scat the Cat"
Her teacher rented a bounce house, which Ashley thoroughly enjoyed

Emily's Dance Recital

Emily had her dance recital last Wednesday. She has really enjoyed dance this year and made a lot of progress. She performed to a song named "Chihuahua" and then her dance place put on the production of Peter Pan and she was a mermaid. She looked great and knew the routines really well. I'm so proud of you Emily!!
Waiting to perform her Chihuahua dance
Doesn't she look cute! :-)
Emily performing Chihuahua; she's the taller one in the middle
The stage lights really messed with the video quality, but you can still get the drift of the song.
It wouldn't let me upload the mermaid dance, but it was cute too.
