Flower Girls

A couple weekends ago our girls got to be the flower girls in Kenny's sister's wedding. They didn't really know what was going on besides they got beautiful purple dresses and got to throw some flower petals. They looked gorgeous and now Ashley is in love with her dress and wants to wear it every week to church.

Ashley getting very sleepy right before the wedding. (It was 2 o'clock. Right at nap time) She still did her part, then cuddled up on me and tried to go to sleep.

A little bit of everything

There are some fun pictures that we've taken the past few days that aren't really huge events, but a lot of little things. I thought I'd put them together for this post.
We think Emily is quite the little artist. This is her "bride girl" she drew. The bride has shoes on too, but this was the cutest picture of the bunch of Emily.
We are finishing our basement and Emily snuck into our under stairs storage area, put her bean bag chair in there and brought the portable DVD player inside and was watching a movie. This is how we found her and we just had to take a picture. :-)
A cute picture of my girls eating otter pops on our deck swing. They were just swinging with each other having a great time. It's a mother's dream. P.S. Kenny french braided Emily's hair that day and it turned out so perfect. You can see them if you look closely.
Emily and Ashley went to a birthday party on Wednesday that was pirate themed. They made pirate hats, sword, and searched for treasure (notice Emily's bounty--kaleidoscope and necklace). Ashley had the same things too, she just wouldn't stand still for the picture.

Sick girls

The bad news...my girls were sick this past week. The good news...at least I got a lot of snuggle time with them.
One day they both woke up before I went to school, but since they were still under the weather, they both fell back asleep. Make sure you look at the pictures below. Ashley fell asleep on the floor right next to our bed where we brought her into our room. Emily, however, fell asleep on a stair. She fell asleep about 8:30 and Kenny said she slept until 10:30 on the step the whole time and didn't move! She must have been tired!
The good news...they are feeling better. The bad news...Ashley is back to her mischievous self. Bring on the time outs! :-)

Lagoon

Last weekend, we along with my sister's family went to Lagoon. It for the most part was a lot of fun. Emily was finally daring enough to go on the Lady Bug drop and liked it. She LOVED the new ride, Jumping Dragon. (It's just like the music express, but it goes backwards too) Ashley however woke up with a fever that day and wasn't feeling quite herself. When we were eating lunch she threw up and while we were cleaning that up we decided to take her temperature again. It was 105! We quickly took her to the first aid station and the EMT's checked her out and were able to get the temperature down to 101. Ashley was then able to fall asleep for a little bit and felt a little better and even wanted to go on a couple rides after she woke up. We stayed for a little longer and overall had a fun day.

Discovery Gateway

Last Saturday we went to Discovery Gateway (it used to be called the Children's Museum) in Salt Lake. Our girls love it and so do we. They get to play with water, be mommies to babies, make "dinner", go shopping, sit on a big pretend horse, plant gardens, climb a rock wall, sit in a life flight helicopter, make and fly paper airplanes, play in a big ball area that makes noises, etc, etc. It is so hands on and wonderful. We had a great time.
The only sad thing for Emily was that the poop was gone. :-) Last year when we went, they had a Sesame Street exhibit there about the body. One of the stations was about digestion and you could push a button and it looked like poop coming down. It definitely was a kid favorite, as gross as that sounds! We had to explain to her the whole ride home why that exhibit needed to go other places so other kids could see the poop. She was okay with it after that.

The life-flight helicopter--Ashley did not like the noise it made at all

Zion National Park

Last weekend our family went to St. George for a short little getaway. It was my last weekend of freedom, so we enjoyed it. It was too short, but we still had a great time. The highlight of the trip was Zion National Park. I had never been there and it was really pretty. I especially enjoyed seeing all the uplift, weathering, abrasion, etc. that was happening since I teach this subject in school. The girls weren't too fond of all the walking, hence we didn't take as many hikes as Kenny and I would have wanted, but the few we took were worth it. My favorite was the weeping rock. It's a rock overhang where it looks like it's raining all the time because water from clear up at the top of the mountain inside the rock finally comes out at this overhang. It was pretty. The girls favorite part of the trip was the swimming pool at our condo. Emily went swimming with her Daddy as often as she could. It was a very enjoyable trip to St. George.

Hiking to the narrows--we at least made it to the end of the paved trail :-)

Getting in the water at the narrows--from the look on Emily's face you can tell what the water felt like. It was COLD!
The girls' favorite part was all the chipmunks that were in Zion's. Ashley loved chasing them.

I love this picture! Ashley wanted so badly to go swimming she put on Emily's goggles and got out the water noodle. I had to keep stopping her from taking her clothes off too.

Scera Pool and Kenny's 15 year reunion

On Saturday, August 1st, we went to the Scera pool as a family. Emily loved the waterslides and wanted to go down those all day. Ashley was a little nervous in the water at first until I took her over to the little kid slide. Then she couldn't get enough of that. It was so fun to just relax and play with our girls.

I love this picture! Ashley so excited to go down the little slide
Reaching the bottom-"Again!" she would say every time

That night was Kenny's 15 year class reunion for Orem High School. I missed mine for my brother's wedding, so at least we got to go to one. Kenny had a blast seeing people he hadn't seen in years. The committee decided to make it all about the kids that night and it was such a hit! They brought in bounce houses, cotton candy, popcorn, and sno cones. It was so great to have the kids being entertained and we could just talk to people. It was a fun night.
