Trip of a Lifetime--Day 2--The Best Day Ever!!

Tuesday (Day 2) was a day out of my dreams!!
Riding the Subway for the first time!

 Seeing the Statue of Liberty!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buying silly Statue of Liberty hats and posing with them :-)

 Full view of NYC
Ellis Island--Way cooler than I thought it would be and so informative!!  I'm so excited to teach immigration to my students this year after being here!

The stairs of separation that families had to go down.  Some families were separated from each other and taken away or sent back home.  You didn't want to be on separate stairs!!

Panoramic from NY to the Statue of Liberty
We got to go on a special tour to the South side that has not been restored.  Really cool but eerie.

Looking cool in our hard hats!
The statue of Liberty that the immigrants could see through the windows of their hospital rooms
Cool old switch that my students will love during our electricity unit
Pretending to get shocked by the old switches  :-)
Trying "interesting" food at dinner--mussels and calamari

My super yummy much more conservative meal
 Seeing Wicked on Broadway!!!!

Times Square--didn't know they kept the ball up there all year long, but there it is

Climbing out of the subway and seeing the temple!!  Coolest experience ever!  It was like climbing from the telestial kingdom to the celestial kingdom!!  So cool and humbling and spiritual!!

Washington Square Arch--This was at 12:30 in the morning and we were all more than a little tired!  After this we got in a cab and were home and in bed within 10 minutes. ZZzzz

One of the coolest days of my whole life!!  I've dreamed of seeing these things forever and actually getting to see them was beyond amazing!!  Such a wonderful day!!  I'll definitely be coming back to NY someday and this time bringing my family!!
